couture S/S 2010. whips at dior and neon*coughPASTELS*cough at chanel.

So today wrapped up day 2 of Haute Couture and the 2 biggest shows so far, Christian Dior, and Chanel, were............................um.............................................Christian Dior and Chanel. Nothing really interesting, the same old Couture tricks were up the sleeves of Karl and John as they went for "Neon-Baroque" and "Equestrian"

Chanel of course did the typical, suits, dresses, and the all white wedding gown, with crazy amounts of embellishment and embroidery in the pieces. I really didn't jump out of my seat for this one. Nor did I double take. Its just the same old same old. I'm a big fan of Chanel, and until they bring back something S/S 08 Couture worthy, its just always boring. Honestly, as much as people like Karl and what he is doing for Chanel, it is really getting old. Especially when the inspiration was "Neon-Baroque" and all I saw was PASTEL.  -_______________-  It dose not cut it, especially from me, a GRAPHIC DESIGN major for God's sake. Honestly, its Chanel, I guess whatever they put out  everyone sees it as gold. Maybe Chanel is one of those houses that just isn't meant to change, EVER. Yet I highly doubt that is true, since  no matter whoever comes after Karl, NOBODY is going to do the typical Chanel frou frou.

Where Chanel gave over-embellishments, Christian Dior gave over embroidery. The theme was equestrian, and it totally shined through in the pieces. I got the rich woman at the racetrack, the horse rider,  EVERYTHING haha. The jackets were very nice, not so sure about the skirts or the heels. It was typical Dior, but the colors and embellishments, etc. worked perfectly and gave off something new in each piece.

Overall the two shows were a okay addition to HC week. More coverage coming later
