alexander mcqueen f/w 2010

Unbelievable. This collection is probably the epitome of tailoring, cut, print, and detail. Not much of a fan of the headpieces, but the collection overall is unbelievably strong. It's so sad to know that he is gone from the world, and this final collection only proves that Alexander McQueen is probably the strongest Couture house that we have so far. Stronger than Chanel, Dior, Armani, any other brand that calls themselves, "Haute Couture" and presents  the same old shit in Paris. The details are amazing, as McQueen allegedly photographed complete works of art and  turned them into print. The skirts add such a modern touch to the old traditional prints, and there's such a wide appeal here, for all age ranges, sizes, ethnicities, and cultures. Unlike S/S which presented very techno prints and high heel shoes that few would wear, this collection is more subdued and desirable by everyone.

My favorite piece is the tailored print suit. So sharp and strong. It aggravates me how some houses totally disappoint, and a house like this, not even Haute Couture....brings it season after season. Why hasn't the Haute Couture Council in Paris consider Alexander McQueen?  Yet Chanel can put pastel Chanel suits and call it "Neon-Chic" and Valentino can make their haute couture ready to wear? There is something seriously wrong with this industry, and it needs to be fixed. Until then, we can all appreciate the absolute genius found in this collection, and whoever fills McQueens shoes, hopefully will be able to deliver just as good.
