PRADA S/S 2013

By far, one of the most progressive collections I've seen in a while. Where other brands decided to do white, primary colors, and play around with the idea of sportiness, Prada went down another lane. Seemingly inspired by political portrait art, more specifically women, artistic paintings of women's faces were strategically placed on coats and dresses, and brought to life with out of this world embellishment and embroidery. I think it's so dynamic how these collages can initially come off so complex and confusing, but with the right concept, it can look seamless and uniform. To add a bit of trendiness, Miuccia played with the idea of sportswear and athleticism with heels reminiscent of running sneakers and leg warmers that looked more like shin guards. Once again, an amazing collection with a multitude of references that you would think always went together.
