balenciaga pre-fall

Balenciaga is just one of those fashion houses that just astound me. HOW they acheive so much sucess while keeping the same sillohette just astounds me. The head designer, Nicholas Ghesquiere is just one of those disgustingly talented people, who can take staples, and signature shapes of a house, and reinvent it every season without disappointment. One thing I have noticed, from their S/S 2010 (hoodies, sleek dresses),  and now in their pre fall, is his conversion into more urban shapes and silhouettes.

the exaggerated cuff combined with the glove creates a coal miners glove, transformed into a acessory to a high end piece.

The pants with the jacket creates a very hip-hop 80's, MC-Hammer look. I don't know if Nicholas purposefully weaves these small hints of urbanism into the designs recently, or if its totally by accident, but it is a DEFINITE innovation in his recreation of the Balenciaga shape.
