the life of a fashion editor.

Lateley, ive really been questioniong my future career in fashion. I've always wanted to be a Art Director for the longest time, but my major here at FIT doesn't live up to the standards that I thought it would. Some classes I take such as 3D design which require the creation of 3D shapes using paper make me think, "what the hell am I taking this class for?". Art Directors in magazines I highly doubt will ever need classes like that in handy, and its extremely discouraging. At the same time, I've been looking at The Sartorialist, and other blogs that emphasize the fashion editor, and its making me warm up to the idea of such a job. I always feared it because I don't consider myself a very good stylist on other people, but I can associate pieces with a theme/time/ etc., which is what most fashion editors do. I always spend some days just walking around, looking at locations and conceptualizing for a photoshoot ( a lot of good places are on the west side near financial district) and what the model would wear. The Creative Director position was always in the back of my head, but that is obviously a positon you have to work your way up to. I feel like either by the end of this year, or early next year, I'll be more exposed to the industry and have a better idea of what I want my role to be in it. My internship this summer will be a VERY BIG part of it all.
