ALEXANDER MCQUEEN S/S 2011

Alexander McQueen S/S 2011 was more of a retrospective of his past work. Under a "nature" theme, infused with butterflies and leaves on shoes, pants and dresses,  the McQueen story continued on. Sarah Burton continued on the print mania of the past two seasons with a print that included flowers, fruit, and another mixture of items. The basket weaved hair translated into 2 pieces , a gown with a basket weave corset and a stiff as nails dress.  Even though it was a GREAT collection, and the pieces evoked great details as a McQueen collection should, its still missing the McQueen factor. Well maybe not the McQueen factor, but just the innovation factor. Every cut, piece, style, and drape was predictable, something that should NEVER be in a McQueen collection. She also used certain styles from previous seasons, another McQueen NONO. Some people may think critics and myself are being hard on her, but in actuality its simply just a lack of design. You see innovation on a John Galliano runway, or a Rodarte runway. Fresh ideas, new ways to wear things, etc. McQueen had the same attitude, and Sarah should too. It's not about copying McQueens style, but about thinking outside the box beyond pants and tops and skirts and dresses and gowns. Hopefully she can get her act together, and drop the commercial bullshit for  next season. But it was a good collection. :D LOL. Look at the shoes!
