US ELLE OCTOBER 2013: LADY GAGA
So THIS photo has surfaced online, which seems to be Lady Gaga's cover for the October issue of ELLE Magazine. It's an interesting shot to choose for the cover, because it's very soft and feminine yet the hairstylist made her still look grungy and rebellious. She seems to be wearing a pink fur, my guess could be Dior. Either way, we'll see soon enough when the full story is revealed.

POP MAGAZINE F/W 2013 2014 / KATE MOSS
I am OBSESSED with this cover for POP Magazine. It's so minimalist and simple, yet so striking and complex. Kate Moss is the cover girl wears a metallic glitter bronze bodysuit by artist Allen Jones. She slightly resembles Superwoman or a heroic comic book character in this shot, but the styling (more specifically the outfit choice) gives the heroic idea a complete 180 degree twist.

VOGUE PARIS SEPTEMBER 2013 COVER
So I'm in love with this cover. Out of all the fashion magazines, Vogue Paris and Vogue Italia have the best way of displaying the most current trends, and with two of the biggest fashion houses, Versace's F/W collection and Heidi Slimane (who's Saint Laurent clothing is featured on the cover) showing grunge and punk, this cover is ideal for Fall Winter. I'm actually surprised that no Alexander Wang was put on the cover, but since his collection was quite covered up this season,I'm definitely not complaining with this edgy, sporty shot.

PERFECT PICK: INGE JACOBSEN ART
SO, I stumbled upon the artwork of Inge Jacobsen, and I must say it's probably some of the most interesting pieces I've ever seen related to fashion magazines. I've seen people do illustrations of magazine covers, collages but this is quite interesting and super intricate. She takes simple cover artwork and hand embroiders the image utilizng cross stitch methods to make a more textural version of the images she picks. Lets take this Beyonce Dazed cover for example.
and VOILA!
MADAMOISELLE C : THE MAKING OF CR FASHION BOOK
SO..... as we all know ( or I only hope you know) Carine Roitfeld, the former Editor in Chief at Vogue Paris to embark on the creation of her own magazine. She then debuted the title as CR Fashion Book. Carine Roitfeld's "Book", in addition to fashion runway shows, designer interviews, and the wonderful world she creates through images, she also does a lot of industry insight with designers and editors, such as behind the scenes visuals from otherworldly couture shows us Americans can only dream of conceptualizing. However, before all this I specifically remember the media drama when she left French Vogue, and the anticipation leading up to announcing she was starting her own magazine, and the painkilling suspense leading up to its release. So while we were desperately waiting, she documented the entire time and process of starting her own business with this new documentary, Madamoiselle C. I WILL be watching this and I'm already DYING for it to come out, but until then, you can watch the trailer below, along with a preview of the third issue. I wonder if she was thinking about CR Fashion Book a few years ago when I took this picture with her.

UK ELLE JULY 2010: KRISTEN STEWART
I love this cover. Even though Kristen Stewart looks uber tired on the cover, its nice because she looks realistic. This is the idea of a "real woman". Not putting 600 pound women on covers and in editorials to shove it in peoples faces. Take notes, bitches.

VOGUE PARIS JUNE JULY.
SOOOO sorry I haven't been updating! I've been job hunting like CRAZY (obviously internships don't pay) and finishing up the semester, so when schools totally over I'll be back on my daily posting. In the meantime, enjoy this June/July Vogue Paris cover, which I really like, but is it me or is Carine getting a bit more commercial with the covers? Trying to prove a point maybe? Either way, Kate Moss looks so soft, and the Dolce & Gabanna contrast nicely with the ocean.

Jennifer Lopez for Vogue Italia: Videotorial?
Is this the future of online magazines? Seriously this looks like a editorial, except in video form. If this idea catches on with other magazines that have decided to go online we could see a new way of presenting editorials other than photography. Which could create a totally different feel to magazines being online, further separating it from print. What do you guys think?

V 65 COVER.
I like the cover because of the fresh relaxed feel it gives off. A total break from the overly-stylized photoshop-arama that was the Kiersten Dunst cover in V64. The main editorial is pretty great too, with her rocking a simple YSL top and natural hair and makeup.

I AM SPEECHLESS. ABSOLUTELY AMAZING COVER. I WOULD SAY THE BEST COVER IN THE PAST YEAR. PERFECT POSE. PERFECT PLACEMENT OF THE BRUSHSTROKE AND STYLING AS WELL AS TEXT PLACEMENT. EVERYTHING FLOWS PERFECTLY. SHOT BY MERT AND MARCUS PIGGOTT. I NEED A COPY TO FRAME. UNBELIEVABLE.

how do you do it?
Exactly HOW are we as interns supposed to climb to the top..... or even get our foot in the door?
Grace Coddington started as a Junior Editor and then worked her way up to Creative Director. But this was TAH-ROWWWWWW-BACK so its probably not that easy anymore....
Anna Dello Russo started as a fashion assistant, then was promoted to a fashion editor, then became a editor in chief, then became a editor at large/creative consultant
A editor I previously interned for was a fashion assistant, then was promoted to a associate market editor after 2 years and then in less than a year promoted to Fashion Market Editor.
We all know the story with all the Teen Vogue editors.... blahblahblah interned blahblahblah fashion assistant job blahblah blah editor. emphasis on the interned.
A really cool assistant at my last internship had lunch with me one day and told me she was a freelance fashion assistant for different stylist for a year. Then she met the editor that she works for now under a magazine.
Kate Lanphear started as a fashion assistant at a magazine and then got her big break to where she is now.
Everyone who works in magazines now that was once a stylist...... well......... you know how that goes............. style this..... style that..... STYLE FOR MY MAGAZINE! Then they edit, not "style".
I'm assuming that especially nowadays when jobs are scarce, you have to do anything and everything to not only get your name out there, but show that you have a eye and talent for editing for a magazine, while building up the appropriate experience. But above all....
NETTTTTTWORKKKKKK! AND THEN WHEN YOU GET YOUR JOB SAY THANK YOU TO THE PEOPLE YOU NETWORKED WITH! VERY IMPORTANT.

magazine note: vogue paris cover
Looking at that Vogue Paris cover, it seems like Carine emulate the celebs as ordinary people, while Anna captures them as they are..celebs.

VOGUE HAS FASHION ASSISTANTS! THERE IS HOPE!
THIS IS A BIG DEAL FOR ALL THOSE ASPIRING TO WORK AT VOGUE THERE IS HOPE! IN THE MAY 2010 ISSUE OF AMERICAN VOGUE THE FASHION ASSISTANTS HAVE BEEN ADDED TO THE MASTHEAD!
A FASHION ASSISTANT IS BASICALLY A ENTRY LEVEL POSITION INTO THE FASHION DEPARTMENT, WHICH MEANS A STEPPING STONE TO MOVE UP TO SENIOR STAFF! PREVIOUSLY VOGUE JUST HAD SENIOR STAFF AND VERY FEW ASSISTANTS ( OR AS IT SEEMED FROM THE MASTHEAD) IN THE FASHION DEPARTMENT, AND TO GET A JOB THERE SEEMED IMPOSSIBLE SINCE EVERY SENIOR STAFF MEMBER GETS THE "PHONE CALL" FROM ANNA SUMMONING THEM TO THE MAGAZINE. SO WHAT DOES THIS MEAN? WE ACTUALLY HAVE A SHOT OF WORKING AT VOGUE NOW! FIX THOSE RESUMES!

MIU MIU S/S 2010 magazine trend.
I AM SICK OF SEEING THESE OVERLY EMBELLISHED DRESSES/SHIRTS ALL OVER EVERY MAGAZINE KNOWN TO MAN!
I've had the opportunity to be with one of the pieces up close... Basically its big shiny embellishments that outline the boobs, or make your boobs look like they're bleeding sparkly blood, but sparkly bleeding boobs are obviously EDITORIAL CRACK for the magazines, so lets call it a trend.
