   Following the "Old Ideas" article I posted, heres some more current things to be inspired by. A lot of music videos lately have been going into this grayscale, black white subliminal messaged futuristic approach. I feel like it has such a strong  visual appeal that can easily be translated into clothing.  You may think of Gareth Pugh's debut collection in Paris when watching these videos. These videos tend to focus more on positive and negative space rather than black and white, which could inspire a collection focused on three dimensionality, or things that are in front or behind? They also both make great runway music.

    It's 2:08 AM exactly when I wrote this up, and some shots from the latest Gareth Pugh collection have surfaced. He is one of my favorite designers, and from the looks of some of the photographs, deep variations in texture is what driven his collection.

The variation isn't really in one piece, but the progression from a structured dress given movement by the multitude of strings  sewn on, to a hyper sharp cut leather jacket.

I feel like his use of texture and mixture of materials keeps critics away from calling this collection"boring and all black", or "B/W boring", or "grey/metallic boring" since he has limited his color pallet in his collections since his move to Paris.

I already like how the menswear pieces so far seem to show the man dressed in softer fabrics, while the woman is engulfed in hard, structured fabrics. Overall, I like what I see, and I'm looking forward to the rest of the collection.

100th post/ Poker Face by ShowStudio featuring Raquel Zimmerman

So to start off a new week and to celebrate the 100th post on The FAINDENT ,  lets put on our Poker Faces with Raquel Zimmerman. She's wearing Gareth Pugh.

     So, call me crazy, but I have literally be SALIVATING over these Gareth Pugh S/S 09 boots since they have come out.

I am just IN FUCKING LOVE WITH THE STUDS. The studs are all over the boot,and give off such a extreme, kickass feel that I just am I'm love with. And to top the fucking cherry, they have them knee high as well.

Gareth, IF YOU ARE OUT THERE, PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEE let me borrow a pair!

viktor & rolf / The FAINDENTS favorite designers

So one of the S/S 2010 shows that had me in awe was Viktor & Rolf's S/S 2010. Viktor & Rolf is just one of those houses that you have to appreciate, because they do avant-garde so well in such a understandable way that a 6 year old child can get it without the artsy-fartsy b.s. This season they basically used tulle as a starting concept, and slashed it away into gravity defying pieces.

There were the more realistic commercial pieces, which looked like more stripped down tulle pieces, which could work realistically in real life. I especially like the piece on Chanel Iman, which has a very lingerie quality to it, with the way the tulle is arranged.

Other pieces from the collection contained more optical illusions and more shock worthy, mind bending creations, such as the dress on the left, from which the audience saw only the top and bottom half of the dress, with the sliver in the middle gone. Previous collections from V&R have included clothes that have moving animations, clothes with their own lighting and music etc. They should be the ones to watch when the shows roll around in the Fall.

she wolf fashion

so obviously as I am typing this post, im listening to "She Wolf" by Shakira. i'm thinking it would be pretty awesome if someone made a "She Wolf" collection.  but what exactly is a "She Wolf" ? and what exactly would "she" wear? well im thinking sexy, body consious, tight, detailed, pieces, that reveal enough skin to make you look twice, but not enough to make your eyes roll back. letting you know "i can be naked if you want me to " (insert purr noise). similar to Versace S/S 2010. but minus all the techno print. more like this.
